BERKELEY, Calif. - Behind two goals each from Alex Morgan and Katherine Daiss, the California women's soccer team downed Saint Mary's, 6-0, Tuesday night at Foothills High School in Pleasanton in front of almost 1000 people.

'It was nice to play an 11-v-11 game against good opposition and tohave the players put the things we have been working on in practiceinto effect,' said Cal head coach Neil McGuire. 'We played very good soccer and created some good chances in front of goal.'

The Golden Bears led 1-0 at the half of the spring game courtesy of a goal by Katie Oakes.

The offensive flood gates opened in the second half for Cal. Morgan and Lisa Kevorkian netted the first two goals of the half to give the Bears a 3-0 advantage. Daiss then posted two goals to up Cal's lead to 5-0, and Morgan capped the scoring with her second goal of the game.

Gina Pellegrini, who was selected the Italian American Amateur Athlete of the Year last week, was in goal for Cal. Pellegrini started 18 games in 2007 and recorded a 0.95 goals-against average.

During the fall season, Morgan led the Bears with eight goals and 18 points.
