The team is just coming off of a big tournament sweep in Hawaii and now is traveling to play some games at Portland State this weekend. We all had such a great time on our trip to Waikiki. Not only did we play well but we also really enjoyed the sunshine and team bonding at the beach.
After taking a red-eye flight home on Sunday night, we got back to Seattle at 6:00am and as hard as it was we still had to go to class. But we all agreed the rough trip home was worth all the fun we had while we were there. After playing in the hot tropical weather, this weekend is looking like it might be a bit rainy and cold but fortunately that kind of weather is our expertise so it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
This week has been a little stressful for everyone because finals are just around the corner. It's crunch time to finish big assignments and also be preparing for exams. For this reason it is really nice to be playing somewhat close to home because we can take a bus to the tournament and can leave on Friday instead of Thursday. Riding the bus is also kind of fun because it's more of a 'road trip' atmosphere and we like to watch movies and hangout on the way down to the games.
This weekend we will only be playing four games which is one less than usual. We will be playing Northern Illinois, Utah State and Mississippi Valley State. As some of you might have seen our freshman shortstop Morgan Stuart was honored as Pac-10 Player of the Week after dominating at the plate in Hawaii. This is an awesome honor and shows the talent and potential in our young team. Hopefully we can go back to back and somebody else will get the award for this week!
