Tucker Leads Cougars at Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas - Coming off a season-best second place finish in its first tournament of the spring, the Washington State men's golf team currently sits in a tie for sixth place at the Border Olympics, Wednesday, led by redshirt sophomore Kevin Tucker. The Cougar men posted a two-round total of 586 (+10) at the par-72, 7,125-yard Laredo Country Club.

Tucker was one of 10 players to post a sub-par opening round, shooting 71 (-1) to sit in a tie for fifth. In the second Tucker fired a 2-under 70 to climb into a tie for fourth place. Tucker is looking for his second top 10 finish of the season and third of his career.

WSU found itself one stroke back of tournament host Houston after the first round. The Cougars shot 289 (+1), while Houston shot an even 288. In the second round the Cougars shot 297 (+9) to drop to a sixth place tie with Baylor.

Freshman Nick Ellis also finds himself in the top 25, currently tied for 25th with a 148 (+4). Ellis is looking for his fifth top 25 finish of the season.

Rounding out the Cougar contingent is senior Jordan Mason with a 150 (+6), sophomore Nick Grigsby with a 153 (+9) and redshirt freshman Xavier Dailly with a 157 (+13).

The Cougars will complete the final round of the Border Olympics Saturday. Final results will be posted at www.wsuougars.com.
