T.J. Bellama Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ASU junior T.J. Bellama has been named Pac-10 Men's Tennis Player of the Week for Mar. 10-16, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Bellama picks up the second straight accolade for the Sun Devils after wins over two ranked teams in No. 52 Clemson and No. 40 Georgia Tech. In singles, Bellama went 2-0 over the weekend. After dropping his first set to Clemson's Derek DiFazio last Wednesday, he battled back through two tough sets to pick up the victory in the number six position 3-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5. Playing in the number five position, Bellama handily defeated Georgia Tech's Miguel Muguruza in straight sets, winning 6-1, 6-1.The No. 15 Sun Devils (11-0) will travel to Tucson this week to take on rival No. 47 Arizona Sat., March 22 in a non-conference counting match.
This is the first Pac-10 Player of the Week award for Bellama. The award is the fourth for the Arizona State men's team. Matt Brooklyn was named Pac-10 Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 18 while Juan Carlos Rebaza earned the honor for the week of March 10.
