No. 11 Men's Tennis Keeps Rolling, Defeat Wildcats 4-3

The No. 11 Arizona State men's tennis team kept rolling with a 4-3 non-conference win over in-state rival Arizona. The Sun Devils are currently 12-0 and off to their best start since 1979.
The Sun Devils took the lead after taking two of the three doubles matches. Andres Arango and Harry Skinner held off Bruno Alcala and Ravid Hazi 8-6 to earn their win in the No. 2 spot. The duo of Wes Miller and John Nanosky II downed Peter Zimmer and Andres Carrasco 8-4. The No. 53 ranked team of Matt Brooklyn and T.J. Bellama fell 8-4 to Claudio Christen and Jay Goldman.
In singles, the Sun Devil netters garnered three victories to clinch the match. Playing in the No. 1 spot, Brooklyn handily defeated Wildcat Christen 6-2, 6-4 to earn the first singles win of the day. Arango earned a point for his team playing No. 2 singles, by taking down Goldman in straight sets, winning 7-5, 7-5. Miller sealed the ASU victory with a win over Pat Metham. The junior dropped Metham in his first set 6-2 only to fall 3-6 in his second one. He fought back to win 7-5 in his third set and defeat Metham 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 in the No. 5 slot.
The Sun Devils head to the Bay Area next week to open conference play. They compete at Stanford on Friday March 28 and at Cal on March 29.
