LOS ANGELES - The sixth-ranked UCLA men's tennis team had little trouble with local rival Loyola Marymount on Tuesday, taking a 7-0 victory in a non-conference match at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Bruins improve their record to 13-1 on the season, while the Lions fall to 7-8.
After taking the doubles point with wins on all three courts, the Bruins moved out to a 3-0 lead when freshmen Nick Meister and Ahmed Ismail took a pair of victories at court Nos. 5 and 6. Meister was perfect in his match with Stefan Nikolic, winning 6-0, 6-0. Ismail dropped just three games en route to a 6-0, 6-3 decision.
Junior Michael Look clinched the match for UCLA at court No. 3, taking a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Renzo Maggi.
UCLA opens up Pac-10 play this weekend, traveling to the Pacific Northwest for matches against Washington on Friday and Oregon on Saturday.
