BERKELEY - David Cooper was 8-for-16 with two doubles, two home runs and three RBI last week in the Bears' midweek game at Santa Clara and sweep of No. 5-ranked Long Beach State. He also had 16 total bases, a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base percentage, making the junior first-baseman the Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week.
After going 2-for-4 at Santa Clara, Cooper was 6-for-12 against the 49ers with the two doubles and two home runs. Cooper hit two home runs, a double, and had a third ball caught over the fence in the Bears' 10-6 win over LBSU Mar. 29. On Mar. 30 in Cal's 4-3 win over the 49ers he was 3-for-3 with a double. On the year Cooper is batting .398 with seven doubles, a team-high 11 home runs, 29 RBI, a .828 slugging percentage and a .496 on-base percentage. He also leads the Bears with 18 walks.
