No. 22 Men's Tennis Dominates Ducks 7-0

TEMPE, Ariz. - The No. 22 Arizona State men's tennis team rebounded from last weekend's losses by blanking the Oregon Ducks 7-0 at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz. The Sun Devils swept both the singles and doubles matches in the win. The Sun Devils are now 13-2 overall and 1-2 in Pac-10 play. The Ducks fell to 11-10, 0-3.

The Sun Devils took the doubles matches handily. The No. 53 ranked duo of Matt Brooklyn and T.J. Bellama took their match over Alexander Cornelissen and Marcos Verdasco 8-4. The team of Andres Arango and Harry Skinner stormed past Francisco Gallardo and Stephen Wiechert 8-1 in the No. 2 position. Wes Miller and John Nanosky II defeated Geoff Embry and Romeo Mortera 8-4.

Brooklyn returned to the No. 1 slot after two matches playing in the No. 2 position. He swept past Verdasco in straight sets, dominating 6-0, 6-2. Arango dropped Gallardo 6-3, 6-1. Juan Carlos Rebaza gave the Sun Devils another point as he easily won his match over Cornelissen 6-1, 6-3.

In the bottom half of the lineup, Skinner blew past Embry with a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Miller dropped his first set, but rebounded by picking up his second to win 5-7, 6-2 (10-4). Bellama earned the Sun Devils fifth singles match in straight sets, beating Wiechert 6-2, 6-1.

The Sun Devils host No. 23 Washington on Sunday at noon at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
