No. 25 Stanford Falls 6-1 to No. 5 USC

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The No. 25 Stanford men's tennis team dropped their first Pac-10 match of the season today to No. 5 USC, 6-1, on the Southern California campus. With the loss, the Cardinal fall to 8-7 overall and 2-1 in the Pac-10.

The Trojans wasted no time in grabbing the doubles point away from the Cardinal, sweeping all three matches. USC went on to win the next five singles matches, solidifying the win. No. 95 sophomore Richard Wire made sure that Stanford was not shutout, upsetting No. 53 Gary Sacks in No. 4 doubles, 3-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-8), providing the only bright spot for Stanford in the tough loss.

The Cardinal will face No. 4 UCLA tomorrow in Los Angeles at 1 p.m., looking for their third victory in the conference.
