USC Enjoys Success At Texas Relays And Stanford Invitational

USC had athletes competing at both the Texas Relays and Stanford Invitational today (April 4) with some impressive results.
First at the Texas Relays, the women's 4x100m relay team of senior Jessica Onyepunuka, sophomore Shalina Clarke, sophomore Judith Onyepunuka and senior Carol Rodriguez placed fifth with a time of 45.05 to advance to Saturday's finals. The women's 4x400m relay team of sophomore Myra Hasson, sophomore Elizabeth Olear, Jessica Onyepunuka and Judith Onyepunuka posted the fastest time of the day of 3:39.99 to advance to tomorrow's finals.
Rodriguez ran her first 100m race of the season and finished second in the prelims with a regional qualifying time of 11.46 to advance to tomorrow's finals. Joining her in the finals will be Jessica Onyepunuka who had a wind-aided time of 11.57 to place fourth.
In the women's 100m HH, Clarke advanced to the finals tomorrow with a wind-aided time of 13.55 to place fifth in the prelims.
Redshirt senior Michelle Sanford placed fourth in the women's long jump 'Section B' with a jump of19-4 ¾ (5.91m).
Kate Hutchinson, a redshirt senior, placed seventh in the women's discus 'Section A' with a throw of 162-10 (49.63). Freshman Lauren Guerrieri competed in the women's discus 'Section B' and placed ninth with a PR of 157-1 (47.88m) which is a regional qualifying mark.
Sophomore Ekene Anene placed 13th in the women's triple jump 'Section B' with a mark of 39-3 ¾ (11.98m).
For the Trojan men competing today, senior Kai Kelley placed third in the men's 110m HH prelims with a winded-aided time of 13.96, while senior Logan Taylor placed fifth with a time of 13.99. Both qualified for Saturday's finals. Freshman Oscar Spurlock ran a wind-aided 14.40 to finish 20th and did not qualify for the finals.
Junior transfer Desmond Hamilton placed eighth in the men's long jump 'Section A' at 23-2.
At the Stanford Invitational, USC has several women's long distance runners and pole vaulters competing in the two-day meet.
Today freshman Zsofia Erdelyi placed 19th (10th among collegians) in the women's 5000m race 'Section 1' with a time of 16:36.66. It was her first time running the event at USC and was 11 seconds off her career best, but it is the third-fastest time ever by a USC female in the event.
In the men's pole vault 'Section B' competition, senior Daniel Corrigan tied for second with a clearance of 15-7 (4.75m), senior Graham Bockmiller tied for fourth with a with a season-best mark of 15-1 (4.60m) and freshman Justin Matoesian tied for seventh at a height of 14-7 ¼ (4.45m), also a season best.
