WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - USC sophomore Robert Farah and STANFORD freshman Hilary Barte have been named Pac-10 Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week for March 31-April 6, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Ranked #7 in the nation in singles, Farah helped USC extend its winning streak to eight straight with Pac-10 wins over Stanford and California. Sidelined the previous week with injury, Farah returned to action at both the No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles positions highlighted with a win over the nation's #2-ranked player, Alex Clayton of Stanford, a 6-4, 6-4 victory. In singles play the next day, Farah beat California's #92 Kallim Stewart 6-3, 6-0, improving to 27-9 overall and 13-4 in dual match singles. Farah and doubles teammate Kaes Van't Hof rank #2 in the nation and are undefeated in dual match play: 26-3 overall and 13-0 in dual matches.

USC is now 17-3 overall and 4-0 in Pac-10 play as it heads to the desert to take on the Arizona schools. First up is Arizona State on Fri., April 11 followed by Arizona on Sat., April 12.

Barte, playing the top position only in her first year, helped lead Stanford to a key home sweep of the Southern California schools over the weekend, defeating two nationally-ranked players to improve to 21-5 overall and 16-3 in dual match competition. Barte defeated No. 50 Lindsey Nelson of USC 6-3, 6-3 in a 5-2 win on Friday and followed that up with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 victory over No. 11 Riza Zalameda the following day in a 5-2 triumph. Barte improved to 2-0 against both players this year. For the season, she is now 13-0 since being inserted into the No. 1 spot back on Feb. 22.

Stanford is now 15-4 overall and 5-1 in Pac-10 play as it takes on Sacramento State on Wed., April 9 before heading to Oregon on Sat., April 12.
