Samantha Camuso Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Freshman Samantha Camuso was named Pac-10 Player of the Week on Tuesday after helping the Bruins to four wins over three ranked teams last week.
Camuso batted .462 (6-for-13) to extend her hitting streak to five games. She had a pair of two-hit games to give her 12 multiple-hit contests on the season. Camuso leads the team with a .398 average, is tied for first with 11 doubles, second with 31 RBI and a .584 slugging percentage and tied for third with two homers.
The freshman began the week with a 2-for-4 effort against #24 Washington, sparking a six-run fourth inning with a two-run single to put the Bruins ahead 2-0. After posting a single in victories over #7 Stanford on Friday and #21 California on Saturday, Camuso recorded another two-hit contest against the Golden Bears on Sunday.
The award is the conference-leading seventh Pac-10 Player or Pitcher of the Week honor for the Bruins this season. Senior Anjelica Selden is a three-time Pitcher of the Week (Feb. 26, March 11 and April 1), freshman GiOnna DiSalvatore is a two-time Player of the Week (Feb. 12 & 26) and freshman Donna Kerr was named Pitcher of the Week on March 4.
