Stanford Set To Host Peg Barnard Invitational

Stanford women's golf returns to action this weekend, Fri-Sat, April 11-12 when they host the Peg Barnard Invitational at the Stanford Golf Course. The Cardinal will welcome some top local, Pac-10, and national competition for the 36-hole tournament.
The Stanford golf course will play as a 6,117 yard par-71 for the tournament named for Peg Barnard, an instrumental fund raiser for women's athletics before women's athletics merged with men's in the 1970's.
Stanford will host Pac-10 foes California, Oregon State, Washington, and Washington State. In addition they will host several California schools in San Jose State, UC Davis, UC Irvine, Long Beach State, and Fresno State. Finally, national competition from Portland State, Colorado, Tennessee-Chattanooga, and Hawaii.
Last season, Stanford claimed a three stroke win over Denver at the Peg Barnard with a 4-over-par 572. The top returning individual for Stanford is Catherina Wang who tied for fourth last year with an even-par 142.
Last weekend Stanford finished 14th at the PING/ASU Invitational from Tempe, Ariz. The Cardinal were led by Rebecca Durham who tied for 38th with a 9-over-par 225 for the three day tournament.
The Peg Barnard Invitational will have free admission to the public. Complete results will be posted at gostanford.com at the completion of each round.
