Cardinal Holds Annual Awards Banquet

STANFORD, Calif.- Senior Taj Finger and junior Mitch Johnson each walked away with three awards, highlighting the Stanford men's basketball team annual awards banquet on Apr. 9 inside the Arrillaga Family Sports Center.

Finger earned the top mark for best field-goal percentage (55.2) while Johnson claimed the best assists per game mark (5.2). Other statistical award winners included the following: sophomore Drew Shiller (87.5 free throw percentage) and sophomore Brook Lopez (19.3 points, 8.2 rebounds per game).

In addition to earning recognition as team captains, Finger and Johnson also received specialty awards. Finger was named Most Inspirational while Johnson was tabbed Most Improved.

Brook Lopez was named the Hank Luisetti Most Valuable Player while Robin Lopez earned Best Defensive Player honors.

Senior Fred Washington received the Ray Guy Toughness Award and junior Kenny Brown earned the Howard Dallmar Coaches Award.

Stanford posted a 28-8 record this year and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 for the first time since 2001. Picked to finish fifth in the conference preseason media poll, the Cardinal wrapped up the regular season in second place at 13-5 overall.
