Broders Leads Cougar Women in Opening Round of Pac-10 Tournament

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. - Senior Tracy Broders shot a 5-over par 76 in the opening round of the Pacific-10 Conference Championships to lead the Washington State University women's golf team, Monday.
The Cougars posted a first-round score of 313 and are in ninth place heading into the second day of play at the par-71, 6,060-yard Palos Verdes Golf Club. The women are facing their most difficult field of the year as eight teams are ranked in top 50 nationally, according to Golfstat.com.
Broders, of Tigard, Ore., sits in a tie for 24th and began the opening round with four birdies in the first nine holes.
Junior Amy Eneroth finished close behind her teammate as she posted a score of 77. Eneroth's 6-over opening round places her in a tie for 31st.
'Tracy played well and it was nice to have her score well and be in good shape,' Head Coach Walt Williams said. 'I think there are signs that we could play better over the next couple of days and there is certainly room for improvement after today's round. We will try to spend some time on the range and fine tune a little bit and move up in the next day or two.'
The women begin the second round of play at 8 a.m., Tuesday.
