April 21, 2008
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - UCLA men's tennis player Michael Look was named Pac-10 Player of the Week on Monday, three days after helping the Bruins secure their fifth straight Pac-10 title with a 4-3 upset over No. 4 USC on Friday.
Look, a junior from Redcliffe, Australia, was the only Bruin player to win in both singles and doubles against the Trojans. With the doubles point coming down to court No. 3, Look and partner Jeremy Drean battled back from 7-3 down to eventually pull off a 9-8(2) victory, clinching the point for the Bruins. The duo is now 20-2 in dual matches this season. Look then picked up another big point in singles, upsetting 68th ranked Gary Sacks, 7-5, 6-2 at court No. 4. Look owns a 20-11 overall singles record this season.
UCLA finishes the regular season 20-1 overall and 7-0 in Conference play as it awaits its NCAA seeding as the Conference's automatic qualifier.
It marks the second week in a row that UCLA has taken home the Pac-10's weekly honor, as senior Harel Srugo took home the award last week.
