WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Pacific-10 Conference outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors for the week of April 14-20:

Men's Track Athlete of the Week: HARI MIX, STANFORD (Jr., Charlottesvile, Va.). Mix ran a career-best 13:56.28 in the 5,000 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays to earn an NCAA RQ time. It's the top 5,000 meters time in the conference this season.

Men's Field Athletes of the Week: COREY WHITE, USC (Jr., San Jose, Calif.). At the Mt. SAC Invitational, White won the men's javelin competition with a school-record throw of 267-10 (81.65m), breaking his own school standard of 256-10 set on April 5. Actually, he broke his record twice as he threw 257-7 (78.52m) with one of his early throws during the competition. Entering NCAA competition this weekend, the next best collegiate throw was 244-10 (74.62m) by Alex VanderMerwe of UTEP. White's throws were 67.31m, 78.52m, 74.87m, 77.99m and 81.65m, meaning four of his five throws were farther than any other college athlete has thrown this season. White's 267-10 mark is the fifth farthest in the world this season and is the second best in the U.S., trailing only Mike Hazel's mark of 268-8 (81.89). White missed by 15 centimeters of getting an Olympic A standard qualifying throw.

Women's Track Athlete of the Week: ZSOFIA ERDELYI, USC (Fr., Godollow, Hungary). In the Mt. SAC Invitational Olympic Development 3000m steeplechase, Erdelyi, who was competing in her first steeplechase as a Trojan, finished first among collegiate runners and second to Carrie Strickland of the Bowerman Athletic Club with a PR and USC record time of 10:11.32. In her first season of running track for USC, the native of Hungary has cracked the Trojans' all-time top 10 in the 3000m (4th), 5000m (3rd) and the steeplechase (1st). Her time is also the top time in the Pac-10 and second-fastest posted by a collegian this season

Women's Field Athlete of the Week: MARISSA TSCHIDA, WASHINGTON STATE (Fr., Missoula, Mont.). Tschida broke her own freshman school javelin record Friday by winning her section with a toss of 161-8 (49.28m). Tschida has thrown an improved NCAA RQ javelin mark in three different meets this season. In addition to being the WSU freshman record, her Friday toss is the third-best women's javelin throw in school history.
