Miller Wins High Jump Crown For Second Straight Meet

Senior Allie Miller continued her string of winning ways on Saturday as she tallied her second straight victory in as many meets in the high jump, this time in La Jolla at the UCSD Triton Invitational. Miller won the contest with a clearance of 5-7, while teammate Maryann Wee was second with a jump of 5-5.
In the 800m, junior Gabrielle Bournes had a big run as she raced to a new lifetime-best in the two-lap race, 2:11.80, to finish sixth overall. Freshman Tori Anthony finished fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 13-3.25, while senior Ingrid Kantola and sophomore Tori Pena tied for 12th with equal clearances of 12-4.
Freshman Catherine White threw a lifetime-best 43-2.50 in the shot put to finish 20th overall. On Friday, freshman Katie Laich (150-3) and senior Mary Hanley (150-1) each tallied lifetime-best marks in the discus.
The Bruins will next play host to USC in the annual dual meet showdown between the two schools. Competition begins on Friday with the hammer, while the rest of the meet will run on Saturday. It will also be televised live on FSN Prime Ticket.
