Abegg and U-23 National Team Blows Out Portland 7-1

Cardinal junior Marisa Abegg has been playing with the U-23 ever since she was named to the squad on January 22nd. The team continued their winning ways with a 7-1 victory over Poland as the team opened their week-long training camp in Portland, Ore. The game was played at Merlo Field in front of 3,500 fans.

The U.S. held a 2-1 lead through 28 minutes, but reeled off five consecutive scores in the blowout victory.

Five different players had assists for the USA including two from midfielder Brittany Klein. U.S. head coach Bill Irwin was coaching against his own team as he serves as Director of Soccer and head men¹s coach at the University of Portland.
