Mowatt No-Hits Huskies in Arizona's 3-0 Win

SEATTLE - Arizona's Taryne Mowatt threw a complete-game no-hitter to lead the 12th-ranked Wildcats past No. 23 Washington, 3-0, on Sunday in Pac-10 softball action. Arizona improved its record to 33-16 and 10-8 in the Pac-10, while the Huskies lost their third straight and fell to 26-21-1 and 5-12 in the conference.
The Huskies only managed to get three runners on in the game, as Mowatt sat the Huskies down in order in each of the final four innings. Mowatt (21-12) struck out 11 and walked two.
Washington senior Caitlin Noble played in her final game at Husky Softball Stadium, and started in the circle for the Huskies. Noble (11-8) allowed three earned runs, nine hits and four walks, while striking out three over the first four and one-thirds innings.
Aleah Macon came on in relief for Noble and pitched no-hit ball and struck out three over the final two and two-thirds innings.
Laine Roth went 3-for-3 for the Wildcats and Brittany Lastrapes went 3-for-4 and drove in a run. Sam Bannister had two hits, including a solo home run in Arizona's three-run fourth inning.
Washington wraps up Pac-10 play with a four-game trip to Oregon next week. The Huskies open up with a 3:00 p.m. game next Thursday at Oregon State.
NOTES: Arizona swept the season series from the UW and has won six straight over the Huskies ... The Wildcats have a 55-17 lead all-time in the series ... The crowd of 1,271 was a season-high at home for the Huskies.
