Garza Moves To No. 2 In The NCAA With Discus Throw Of 204-9

Senior Greg Garza posted the No. 2 mark in the NCAA this season in the discus on Saturday as the All-American threw a season-best 204-9 at the Modesto Relays. Garza was the top collegiate finisher and fifth overall in the competition as he added four feet to his season-best mark.
Junior Boldizsar Kocsor threw just short of his lifetime-best in the hammer with his second-place throw of 221-3. He was the top collegiate finisher in the competition.
Freshman Jonathan Clark was the top collegiate finisher (4th overall) in the triple jump with his mark of 51-3.50.
In the pole vault, junior Dustin DeLeo tied for first with a clearance of 17-2.75. Junior Bobby Talley and freshman Johnny Quinn tied for seventh as both cleared 16-8.75. That mark was a lifetime-best for Talley, as well as an improved regional qualifying mark.
At the Occidental Invitational, freshman Dylan Knight had a big day as he ran a nine-second lifetime-best in the steeplechase to win the event. His mark of 8:58.36 was a regional qualifier as well. Junior Marlon Patterson picked up another regional mark for the Bruins as he ran a lifetime-best of 3:47.77 in the 1500m to finish eighth overall.
