Jason Kipnis Named Pac-10 Player of the Week

May 27, 2008

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State sophomore OF Jason Kipnis has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week, the conference announced today. It's the first weekly award for Kipnis and the sixth time this season a Sun Devil has been honored. Kiel Roling won the award on April 29 and last week, Ike Davis won back-to-back weeks in March and Brett Wallace won opening weekend.

Kipnis, from Northbrook, Ill., helped Arizona State clinch their second straight Pac-10 title, going 8-13 (.615) with a double, a triple, a homer and six runs batted in during the final week of the regular season at Arizona. He also stole a base, drew four walks and played perfect defense in the outfield, fighting off gusty winds in Tucson.
