MacManus to Play in NCAA West Regiona

TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men's golfer Tarquin MacManus was selected to compete in the NCAA West Regional, the organization announced Monday.
MacManus is among 27 teams and six individuals who will compete in the West Regional, May 15-17, at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton Golf Club. He was seeded No. 3 among the six individual players in the 141-man field.
MacManus, a 5-foot-10 freshman from Cairns, Queensland, Australia, led the Wildcats with a 72.51 stroke average and a total of seven top-10 finishes, including three top-10s. Seventeen of his 35 rounds played were at par or better and he carded a low round of 66. MacManus was Arizona's top finisher in five of his 12 starts and 34 of his 35 rounds played (97.1 percent) counted towards the team total. Additionally, his stroke average is the fifth lowest in school history for a freshman.
MacManus' berth means that Arizona will have a presence in the regional for the 22nd consecutive season. The Wildcats did not qualify for the NCAA postseason as a team for the first time since 1986.
