The Women of Troy Advance to the Semifinals at the NCAA Championships

The No. 11 Women of Troy finished fifth in their varsity eight heat at the NCAA Championships at Lake Natoma, Calif. on Friday, May 30 with a time of 6:33.40.
The top three finishers in each of the three heats automatically moved on to the semifinals and those who finished four through six had to participate in the eights repechage which took place at 1:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.
The Women of Troy took to the water against Michigan, Washington State, Clemson, Wisconsin, Ohio State and Tennessee in the repechage. USC dominated the race from the beginning, starting out in the lead and never relinquishing it. The Women of Troy finished in first with a time of 6:40.77. The top three finishers in this race move on to the semifinals which take place Saturday, May 31, 2008.
There are two semifinal heats, one at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and one at 8:15 a.m. The Women of Troy will compete out of lane five in the second semifinal heat at 8:15 a.m. Their competition will be Brown, Michigan State, Virginia, Washington and Michigan.
The teams from both heats with the six best times will move onto the grand final, which will take place on Sunday, June 1 at 11:30 a.m. The teams who finish in places seven through twelve will row in the petite final at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday, June 1.
