Bruin Swimmers Tune-Up For Olympic Trials At Two Meets This Weekend
June 4, 2008
The UCLA swimmers will head to two big meets this weekend for a final tune-up before the Olympic Trials. The Bruins will have athletes at the Omaha Grand Prix in Nebraska and the Janet Evans Invitational at USC.
Competing in Omaha at the newly built Olympic Trials pool are former Bruin Kim Vandenberg, recent graduate Nicolette Teo and current Bruins Emily Bibb and Anna Poteete. Also competing with Team Bruin in Omaha is Olympic medalist Amanda Beard, who now trains under the guise of UCLA head coach Cyndi Gallagher.
At USC and the Janet Evans Invitational, several Bruins will be trying to make qualifying times for the Olympic Trials and swim personal-bests. Of note is former Bruin Luisa Los-Santos, who is trying for the FINA 'A' cut time in the 100 butterfly to make the Malaysian National Team. She is less then .5 seconds shy of the mark.
