Early Television Selections Include Four Cougar Football Games
June 9, 2008
PULLMAN, Wash. - Four Washington State University football games, including the Cougar Gridiron Classic against Oklahoma State at Qwest Field in Seattle, have been selected for national or regional television by FSN.
The Aug. 30 Cougar Gridiron Classic, presented by Washington's Beef Producers, marks the Cougars' season-opener and will be televised live by FSN with a 12:30 p.m. kickoff. FSN will televise two additional home games: the WSU-USC game, Oct. 18, which is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. start; and the annual Apple Cup against Washington, Nov. 22, televised by FSN with a noon start from Pullman.
The lone televised road contest at this point comes when the Cougars travel to Waco, Texas to face Baylor, Sept. 13. That game will also be televised by FSN with an 11:30 a.m. local (9:30 a.m. PT) start.
'The early television selections by FSN is a positive sign interest in our program remains high,' said WSU Director of Athletics Jim Sterk. 'I think our fans are going to enjoy the up-tempo style under head coach Paul Wulff and having three games televised allows more of the Cougar Nation to follow the team.'
Sterk added: 'I would anticipate additional games being selected for television over the coming weeks and as the season progresses.'
Both ABC and FSN will select additional games during the course of the 2008 season, with announcements made six or 12 days in advance of the games.
Prior to the 2007 season, the Cougars had four games selected for national or regional television. Following six- and 12-day selections throughout the year, WSU ended theseason with 10 of its12 games being televised.
Season tickets, along with tickets for the Aug. 30 Cougar Gridiron Classic versus Oklahoma Sate at Qwest Field, are currently on sale. Tickets are available online at www.wsucougars.com, by phone at 1-800-GO-COUGS, or through all Ticketmaster outlets.
