Vandenberg Places 7th In 100m Butterfly Final At Olympic Trials

Bruin alumna Kim Vandenberg finished seventh in the 100m butterfly final at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, NE on Monday evening to highlight UCLA competitors. Vandenberg was eighth heading into the final and moved up to seventh overall with her swim of 58.84. She still has the 100 and 200 freesyle, along with her signature event, the 200 butterfly, left to compete in.
Amanda Beard, a member of Team Bruin who is shooting for her fourth Olympic Team, advanced to the final of the 100 breaststroke after finishing seventh in the semifinal round with a time of 1:08.73. She was 11th in the opening rounds with her time of 1:09.29.
Also on Monday in Omaha, sophomore-to-be Emily Bibb had a big swim as she raced to a lifetime-best of 4:16.57 in the 400 freestyle, placing 36th overall. Teammates Sam Vanden Berge (4:20.52) and Julia Imagane (4:26.19) were 65th and 82nd, respectively.
