Single Game Football Tickets On Sale Monday

July 25, 2008

SEATTLE - Most of the so-called college football 'experts' have labeled Washington's 2008 schedule as the nation's toughest. With non-conference opponents such as BYU, Oklahoma and Notre Dame visiting Husky Stadium this fall, that comes as no surprise.

Single-game tickets to watch the Huskies against this trio of non-league opponents and a quartet of Pacific-10 Conference rivals go on sale Monday, July 28 at 8:30 a.m. through the Husky Ticket Office, located in Graves Hall of the UW campus. Tickets may also be purchased by calling 206/543-2220 or by visiting GoHuskies.com online by clicking here.

'I look at it as a challenge and I think our team accepts it as a challenge,' said UW head coach Tyrone Willingham, when asked about the 2008 schedule at the recent Pac-10 football media day. 'It is great for our players to test themselves against a high caliber of competition and our fans love to see us compete against other great teams.'

In addition to playing three non-league teams that are accustomed to competing for national glory, the Huskies host conference rivals Stanford, Oregon State, Arizona State and UCLA. For a complete schedule, click here.

Special four-game mini plans and season tickets are currently on sale, with the Husky Ticket Office reporting that sales are slightly ahead of last year's pace. Washington sold 43,516 season tickets in 2007, which represented a gain of nearly 1,000 over the previous season. The UW is currently sitting at 43,048 season tickets sold for the upcoming season.

Washington opens the season on Saturday, August 30 in an emotional Pac-10 rivalry game at the University of Oregon. The game will be televised live nationally by FSN and is certain to feature a sold-out Autzen Stadium in Eugene.

The Huskies open their seven-game home schedule on Sept. 6 at high noon against BYU, which will come into the game owning the nation's longest active unbeaten streak, on FSN. The University of Oklahoma, generally ranked among the top four teams in the nation by preseason magazines, will visit Husky Stadium one week later, on Sept. 13, in a nationally-televised game begining at 4:45 p.m. (7:45 p.m. Eastern) on ESPN.
