Women's Soccer Reports to Camp
Aug. 14, 2008
SEATTLE - The University of Washington women's soccer team reported to Husky Soccer Field Tuesday ready to embark on what figures to be a redemptive 2008 season.
Since the program's most successful season in 2004 when they reached the NCAA Elite Eight, the Huskies have endured three down seasons but are ready to bounce back and return to the top of one of the most competitive conferences in women's soccer in the country.
The schedule will be demanding but a large contingent of returning players will lead one of UW's strongest recruiting classes as the team prepares to take on some of the toughest competition around.
Leading the team will be a pair of seniors in Melissa Beal and Jenna Robison, who are the team's top two returning scorers from 2007. Additionally, the team boasts the two-time Gatorade Washington State Player of the Year in freshman Kate Deines.
The Huskies kick off their season Aug. 28 at Montana. Their first two home contests come Sept. 5 and 7 in the Husky/Nike Invitational where they will take on Colgate on Friday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. and Kennesaw State on Sunday, Sept 7 at 1:30 p.m.
Tickets for all women's soccer home games are on sale now. Click here for more information.
