Francis, Flores Complete First Round at U.S. Amateur

UCLA golfers Philip Francis and Erik Flores completed their rounds at the 108th U.S. Amateur, hosted at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina Monday.

Francis, a sophomore, carded an opening round score of 71 (+1) on Pnehurst's No.4 Course. He recorded three birdies, four bogeys and 11 pars on the day and was tied for 37th place.

One stroke behind him in a tie for 65th was senior Erik Flores, who posted a 72 at the No.2 course. Flores carded three birdies, three bogeys, 11 pars and a double-bogey at the par 4 12th.

After the second round play is completed on Tuesday, the field will be cut to the top 64 players and competition will proceed to match play.

On Tuesday, Francis will tee off the No. 2 Course at 8:10 a.m. ET, and Flores will tee off the No. 4 Course at 9:10 a.m. ET.
