Husky Camp Day 15

Aug. 18, 2008

SEATTLE - The third week of the Washington football team's preseason preparations got underway Monday. While an unseasonable rainstorm descended on Husky Stadium during the team's morning practice, any gloom was limited to the skies and not the field.

Husky quarterback Jake Locker was in full pads for the morning workout, the first time he'd been in full pads since suffering a minor hamstring injury last week. Coach Tyrone Willingham was quick to point out to the press during his lunchtime briefing that Locker is not yet back to 100 percent, but acknowledged the step forward.

'He's not expected to be [at 100 percent] probably for some time,' Willingham said. 'It's going to be day to day as to when he reaches that point.'

The team is slated for a second practice Monday afternoon, with only two more double days left on the schedule.

As for the unusually rainy summer weather, Willingham took it as a plus, noting that it's good for players to have to deal with different conditions and get used to them.

'The weather was probably more beneficial today than anything else,' Willingham said. 'From a coach's standpoint, it was another hurdle, another obstacle, that they have to look at.'

Tuesday, the team returns to its typical schedule for that day with lifting in the morning and a full-squad practice in the afternoon.
