TUCSON – The Arizona football team is set to host the Toledo Rockets in a non-conference showdown on Saturday evening in Arizona Stadium. Tickets are still available for the game, which is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
Last week’s season-opening 70-0 shutout of the Idaho Vandals drew 47,511 fans to Arizona Stadium, all of whom braved threatening weather conditions and a 64-minute weather delay before the 2008 season officially kicked off.
When it was all said and done, the rain-soaked fans were treated to one of the most prolific offensive performances in the school’s history, as UA set school records for most points in a quarter (35) and most points scored in a half (49). A total of nine different Wildcats scored 10 touchdowns as UA posted 70 points for only the third time in school history and the first time since 1921.
The task for the Arizona football team this week is to move on from last week’s performance and focus on a Toledo squad that is sure to offer a stiff challenge.
“We’ll have to be a lot sharper and a lot better this week,” Head Coach Mike Stoops said on Wednesday. “This will be a much more physical game and we will have to execute well in order to win.”
“I’m really proud of what our kids are doing,” Stoops added when asked this week’s practices. “They want more and that’s as simple as I can put it. Hopefully we’ll have the same intensity when we hit the field on Saturday.”
Fans are encouraged to avoid the pre-game rush and purchase their tickets in advance by ordering online and picking their tickets up at Will Call on Saturday. Tickets can be purchased online until 2 p.m. on Saturday and tickets can be picked up at the Will Call window at the Arizona Stadium Box Office.
For those looking to purchase tickets at the stadium, tickets go on sale at 2 p.m. at the Arizona Stadium Box Office.
