AROUND THE LEAGUE
ARIZONA (3-2-0): In Arizona’s 4-0 shutout of Weber state, four separate Wildcats tallied goals...SO D Lauren Bennett and JR F Jacqueline Broussard netted their first goals of the season in the rout...The Wildcats also took on the University of Texas, which they defeated last year 2-0. Although unsuccessful in its effort this season, Arizona forced the eighth ranked Longhorns into double overtime, eventually falling short 2-1 with a goal in the 105th minute by Texas F Courtney Goodson.
ARIZONA STATE (2-2-1): Arizona State JR GK Briana Silvestri recorded her first shut-out of the season last weekend in the Sun Devils’ 4-0 win over Weber State...Playing all 90 minutes, Silvestri held a Weber State team, which recorded seven shots, scoreless...FR F Sierra Cook scored two of ASU’s four goals on Sunday and recorded five points for the game...Cook’s five points, two goals and eight shots, tied the single-game high of any Pac-10 player in all three categories this season.
CALIFORNIA (3-1-0): SO F Lisa Kevorkian, rebounding from a season-ending knee injury last year, leads the Golden bears with five goals in 11 shots on goal...Kevorkian has already posted two game-winning goals this season...Cal defeated visiting Missouri last weekend, 3-0, improving its record to 3-1.
OREGON (3-2-0): The Ducks scored a combined five goals last weekend against Utah and Saint Mary’s after scoring a total of just three goals in the first three games....Oregon racked up 20 shots on goal, including four different players tallying four shot attempts or more for the two game stretch.
OREGON STATE (3-1-0): Oregon State JR F Najma Homidi propelled the Beavers to a 1-0, overtime victory against Utah...Homidi has scored two goals on the season and led the team with four shots in the game.
STANFORD (5-0-0): Including this weekend’s win over No. 22 Georgia in which FR F Lindsay Price scored back-to-back goals, the Cardinal have now scored goals with in five minutes of one another in four of their five games...SO GK Kira Maker held both Auburn and Georgia scoreless last weekend, bringing her season total to four shutouts in five games.
UCLA (4-0-0): JR F Lauren Cheney, recently back in the Bruin line-up after winning the gold medal in Beijing, has scored in all three games she has competed in for UCLA...Cheney currently leads the Bruins in scoring with nine points...With its win over UC Irvine last weekend, UCLA continues its home unbeaten streak to 43 in a row.
USC (4-1-0): Head Coach Ali Khosroshahin earned his 100th career victory as a head coach with USC’s dominating 7-1 win over Alabama...The seven goals against Alabama ties a USC record for most goals in a single game...With their two victories this weekend over No. 12 Santa Clara and Alabama, the Women of Troy extend their home winning streak to 13 games.
WASHINGTON (4-0-0): With the Huskies 4-0-0 record for the beginning of the 2008 season, Washington is off to its best start since 2004...In 2004 the Huskies started out the season 8-0 and went on to the NCAA Elite Eight, the best finish in the history of the program...JR F Veronica Perez added her fifth goal of the season in Washington’s 2-0 victory over Kennesaw State.
WASHINGTON STATE (1-1-3): JR F Elysse Van Leer’s second-half goal helped the Cougars force overtime and tie 13th ranked West Virginia in the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic in Knoxville, Tenn....Van Leer’s second goal of her career came at the 54:26 mark of the game after she went after a loose ball fumbled by West Virginia’s goal keeper.
