No. 5 USC Keeps Rolling With 3-0 Sweep Of Dartmouth

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Sophomore outside hitter Kimmee Roleder (Pasadena/Pasadena HS) had 10 kills and hit .692 (10-1-13) Friday as the No. 5 USC Women of Troy defeated the Dartmouth Big Green, 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-12), at the West Point Challenge. Junior outside hitter Jessica Gysin (Los Gatos/St. Francis HS) led USC (6-2) with 13 kills and eight digs.
Junior All-America setter Taylor Carico (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) had 39 assists with three kills while junior libero Alli Hillgren (Rancho Santa Fe/Francis Parker HS) posted 18 digs. Freshman Alex Jupiter (Hermosa Beach/Redondo Union HS) had nine kills and four block assists for the Trojans.
Madeline Baird led Dartmouth (2-5) with 11 kills and two digs.
At 13-12 in the first set, USC pulled away with a 7-3 run on two kills from redshirt freshman Lauren Williams and kills by Carico and Jupiter. In the second set, a streak of five straight points during Gysin's serve turned a 9-8 lead into 14-8 advantage for the Trojans.
The Women of Troy closed out the match with a solid third set, hitting .571 (18-2-28) and raced out to the 10-4 lead for the team's sixth straight win.
USC concludes the West Point Challenge today at 5 p.m. Eastern with a match against host Army that will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
