Bruins Move Up to Ninth Place at Olympia Fields Invitational

The UCLA men's golf team moved into ninth place after 36 holes at the Olympia Fields/University of Illinois Invitational Saturday.
The Bruins improved upon their first round team score by six strokes and were 28-over par through 36 holes at 588. They trailed tournament leader Oklahoma State by 16 shots entering the final round. The Cowboys (571, +12) were one stroke ahead of host Illinois (573, +13). Indiana was third at 580 (+20), followed by Texas in fourth place at 581 (+21). Stanford, Arizona State and Penn State were tied for fifth at 583 (+23) and Vanderbilt was eighth at 584 (+24).
Individually, senior Lucas Lee led the Bruins in the individual standings with a score of 71 (+1) that put him in a tie for 11th place at 143 (+3). Senior Erik Flores was tied for 15th place one stroke behind at 144 (+4) after posting a score of even par 70. Tied for 38th place at 148 (+8) after carding a 78 (+8) was sophomore Philip Francis. Sophomore Connor Driscoll was tied for 65th at 155 (+15) after posting a score of 74 (+4), and freshman Mauricio Azcue posted a 76 (+6) and was tied for 69th at 157 (+17).
Penn State's Kevin Foley fired a second straight 69 (-1) and was the second round leader at 138 (-2).
