Cougar Women Within Striking Distance at Giustina Memorial

CORVALLIS, ORE. - The Washington State University women's golf team is in a tie for third after the first day of the Giustina Memorial Classic at the 6,282-yard, par-72 Trysting Tree Golf Club.
The Cougars are 11 strokes behind Oregon, who leads the 10-team field after two rounds. The women carded a first-round total of 312, following up with a 293 in the second round. WSU has four competitors in the top 25 after the first day.
Senior Jessica Black and freshman Lauren Howell lead the team, both finishing the day in a tie for 11th with a two-round total of 151 (+7). Howell tallied a career-low round of 71 (-1) during the second round.
Close behind is junior Mandy Parsons, who carded a 152 (+8) and is tied for 14th. Parsons also finished with a career-low round of 74. Senior Amy Eneroth shot 155 (+11) and is tied for 21st, shooting even par in the second round. Freshman Kristen Allard finished out the Cougar lineup, placing 29th and posting a 157 (+13).
The men and women also compete for an overall team award, combining the scores of both the men's and women's teams. WSU is sitting in a tie for second with a two-round total of 1,170, only five strokes behind Oregon.
