Giordano, Shannon named ASU Athletes of the Week
Sept. 23, 2008
Margie Giordano (Volleyball) and Noah Shannon (Cross Country) have been chosen as Arizona State University's Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 27. Both played a crucial role in leading their respective teams to victory.
Giordano entered the 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs club this weekend in ASU's win over Albany. She's only the 8th player in ASU history to compile 1,000 kills and digs. She's currently fifth in active leaders in kills in the Pac-10 and is averaging 3.56 kills per set on the year for a .235 attack percentage.
Shannon led the way for the men for the second time this season, placing fourth overall and second among collegiate runners, covering the 6,000m course in 18:59.93. His finish was one of five Sun Devils to place among the Top 12 individually to lead the team to its first team title of the season and their first since the Dave Murray Invitational in 2006.
