Kasey Johnson Named To National Team Of The Week
Sept. 23, 2008
Back in the starting lineup after being sidelined by injury to open the 2008 season, sophomore defender Kasey Johnson earned her first spot on a national team of the week, named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's College Team of the Week. Johnson went the full 90 on the back line for the Women of Troy, helping USC to a 4-0 shutout of visiting SMU.
Johnson had one shot in the game -- a header off a corner that drilled the post and set up USC's fourth goal of the day. She also helped anchor a stubborn Trojan defense that allowed only three shots from the Mustangs in the entire game. SMU was unable to muster a single shot during the first half. The shutout win was USC's third of the season. Johnson was the only Trojan to go the full 90 minutes for USC in the match.
USC's next match is against Loyola Marymount on Friday (Sept. 26). The Trojans play host to the Lions at 3 p.m. at McAlister Field.
