Levin And O'Hara Earn National Team Of The Week Honors
Sept. 23, 2008
STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman Camille Levin and junior Kelley O'Hara both earned national team of the week honors for their performances at the Santa Clara/adidas Classic this past weekend. Levin was selected to Soccer America's team, while O'Hara made Top Drawer Soccer's list.
Levin scored her first collegiate goal, Stanford's third in a 4-1 win over Yale (9/19), and added her second assist of the season on junior Kristin Stannard's goal in a 3-0 defeat of Cal Poly (9/21). Levin also made a great individual effort in the seventh minute against Cal Poly that drew the foul that set up Teresa Noyola's game-winning penalty kick goal. Levin was selected to the all-tournament team, along with being named the tournament's most valuable player.
O'Hara, also selected to the all-tournament team, notched two goals and an assist over the two games this weekend. Both of her goals came moments before the halftime whistle in each game, effectively killing any momentum the other team may have built up, and her tally against Yale with 30 seconds to go in the half turned out to be the game-winner. Her assist came from serving a picture-perfect cross right to the head of sophomore Allison McCann, who powerfully headed the ball into the corner of the net for her first career goal.
This is Levin's first time being selected to a national team of the week, while this is the third time O'Hara has been honored by Top Drawer Soccer.
