Recapping Last Weekend:

Against Albany:

A .273 team attack percentage and 10 team blocks steadied the ASU gameplan as they collected a 3-2 win over the Albany Great Danes. The Sun Devils came out solid in sets one and two before losing the pace a bit in three and four as the Danes made a match of it. Sarah Reaves killed 19 and Margie Giordano killed 20, both totals tie their third-highest career match total. Possibly more important in the match was the Devil D where Sonja Markanovich and Sara Todorovich both tallied  five block assists and Sarah Johnson digging 22 balls as the underclassmen lead the  fight against the Great Danes with ASU  winning 25-14, 25-19, 8-25, 22-25 and 15-10.

Against Western Kentucky:

The match started off well for ASU as they hit .356 to take set one 25-23 from the Lady Toppers. WKU rallied back hard in the second set, but ASU capitalized on errors and were able to snake away a 26-24 win to go 2-0 into the break. The Hilltoppers weren’t to be denied though as they fl ipped the switch and took advantage of ASU’s errors to gut out a 25-23 win in set three. In another exact switch WKU took a 26-24 win in the fourth to tie it up with a whopping .351 team attack percentage. ASU didn’t roll over though as they pushed six tie scores and four lead changes in the fifth set, but ultimately fell 15-12.

Against No. 25 Michigan:

The Wolverines entered the match with an unblemished 11-0 record where they came out swinging in the first set with a .318 attack percentage to take set one 25-19. ASU fired up for the second set though an crushed a .327 team attack percentage to push the Wolverines to extras and snake away with a 27-25 win to push it to an even 1-1 tie at the break. ASU bettered Michigan’s .234 attack average in set three, but errors hurt the Sun Devils and cost them the set as they pushed Michigan to the limit, but were just edged 27-25. Set four saw ASU run out of steam as the Wolverines stepped up to close out the win 25-16.
