Jessica Swarbrick Named Pac-10 Player of the Week
Sept. 29, 2008
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Senior middle blocker Jessica Swarbrick has been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 22-28, as announced by Commissioner Tom Hansen Monday. Swarbrick's honor marks the first of her career and comes on the heels of her taking sole possession of fourth place all-time in block assists at Washington.
The El Dorado, Calif. native boasted the team's best hitting percentage and collected the most blocks as the No. 9 Huskies picked up two road Pac-10 wins, over Arizona State and Arizona. Swarbrick managed just two hitting errors over the two matches, each of which went five sets.
At Arizona State last Friday, Swarbrick totaled eight kills and five blocks with a .467 attack percentage. The following night, Swarbrick again led the team in hitting with a scorching .550 attack percentage with 12 kills on 20 swings and five blocks at Arizona.
Swarbrick's strong performances last weekend improved her season attack percentage to .475 and her total career block assists to 380, giving her sole possession of fourth place all-time in Washington's history.
Swarbrick and the Huskies are back in action this weekend as they host Pac-10 rivals No. 8 California on Friday at 7pm and No. 6 Stanford Sunday at 12:30pm. For the complete schedule and ticket information, log on to GoHuskies.com.
