WSU Men Tied for Eighth at Husky Invite

Bremerton, Wash. - Washington State University's men's golf team finished the first day in a tie with BYU for eighth place at the par-72, 7,111-yard Gold Mountain Golf Club's Olympic Course.
Junior Austin Hurt led the Cougars today. Hurt opened with a first-round score of 74 (+2), and shot 75 (+3) in the second round. He finished the first day of play with a score of 149 (+5), placing him in a tie for 22nd place.
Junior Nick Grigsby enters the final round tied for 29th place after carding a two-round score of 150 (+6).
Sophomore Nick Ellis and Junior Kevin Tucker each finished the first day tied for 43rd place. Ellis shot a two-round total of 153 (+9). Tucker carded a two-round score of 153 (+9). Freshman Trent Sanders wrapped up the Cougar scorers with a 160 (+16).
'We are struggling with putting,' said WSU Head Coach Walt Williams. 'I think it has more to do with where we hit on the green, we didn't leave ourselves with makeable birdie chances.'
The Cougars posted a 301 (+13) in each round today.
'We played about the same in both rounds...we still have some work!' said Williams.WSU will begin the final round tomorrow with tee-times starting at 7:30 a.m. Final round results will be posted at www.wsucougars.com.
