Oct. 4, 2008
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Stanford women's varsity eight started the fall campaign the right way today, jumping well ahead of the pack in a 4,000 meter race and capturing its first win of the year at the Head of the Oklahoma by over 11 seconds with a time of 14:25.935. (Results)
The Cardinal blew away the rest of the field of 12, which included boats from Washington State, Harvard, Texas, Miami, Radcliffe, SMU, Kansas, Wichita State, Oklahoma City, and Central Oklahoma among others. Officially, Stanford won by 0:11.025 seconds. Radcliffe followed the Cardinal in second, and Washington State came in third.
The Stanford lineup that provided the win was Maura Moran (coxswain), Michelle Vezie, Grace Luczak, Sophie Aubrey, Lauren Hofmayer, Katie O'Neil, Lindsay Meyer, Erika Roddy, and Di Eaton. Teammate Elle Logan was also on hand but did not race with the Cardinal. Logan is in attendance with her Olympic gold medalist teammates from the U.S. Women's eight and will race in an exhibition.

The Cardinal will compete in the sixth lane against Radcliffe, two Washington State boats, SMU, and Miami.
