Goldman Falls in Third Round

TULSA- A day after sophomore Jay Goldman upset the No. 28 player in college, he fell to Virginia's Michael Shabaz. Goldman was able to take him to three sets 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-2 in the third round of the ITA All-American Championship. Goldman finished single's play with a 2-1 record.
'Overall, I thought Jay had a good tournament,' head coach Tad Berkowitz said. 'Jay battled will and just fell short of advancing.'
In the doubles round, Andres Carrasco and Goldman were defeated by Florida's Joey Burkhardt and Carlos Cueto 8-2.
Newcomer Andres Arango opens the Main Draw tomorrow against Jonas Berg of Mississippi at 10:30 a.m. Tucson time.
