Cats Set Sights on Stanford
Oct. 9, 2008
TUCSON – The Arizona football team is continuing its preparations for a trip to the Bay Area as the Wildcats will take on the Stanford Cardinal in a Pacific-10 Conference showdown in Stanford Stanford Stadium at 2 p.m. (PDT) on Saturday, October 11.
The Wildcats are coming off a pair of Conference victories to open the season, including a 48-14 win against Washington last week. After missing the first three games of the season, tight end Rob Gronkowski, who was named the John Mackey Tight End of the Week by the Nassau County Sports Commission, has sparked the Wildcats to a 2-0 Pac-10 with five touchdowns in the two Conference games, including three last week.
As the Wildcats hit the road for the third time in its last four games, players and coaches are ready for the challenge that a disciplined yet aggressive Cardinal team will pose. Arizona dropped a 21-20 decision in Tucson last year to Stanford, but the Wildcats hope to continue their success at Stanford, a place they have won six out their last seven visits.
The team will depart from Tucson shortly after 3 p.m. local time on Friday and is due to return to Tucson late Saturday evening after the game.
The Wildcats will play host to the California Golden Bears on Saturday, Oct. 25 in Arizona Stadium. Kickoff for the game was changed from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. over the summer to accommodate a live television broadcast by Fox Sports Arizona.
