ASU Women Golfers Continue to Shine at World Amateur

The five members of the Arizona State women's golf team representing their native countries at the 2008 World Amateur Team Championships continued to perform well through the third round. The World Amateur is being held at the Grange Golf Club in Adelaide, Australia. Incoming freshman Carlota Ciganda, senior Azahara Munoz and junior Anna Nordqvist all finished the third day of the prestigious tournament in the top five. Nordqvist's Swedish team is in first while Spain, the team of Ciganda and Munoz, is in second.

Nordqvist finished the third round in second place. At 6-under 212 (70-68-74), the two-time All-American is two shots off leader and fellow Swede Caroline Hedwall.

Munoz held her fifth position. The senior from Malaga, Spain, finished the third round 1-under 217 (71-72-74). Her Spanish teammate Ciganda slipped to ninth after shooting 5-over 78 in the third round. Ciganda has shot a 1-over 219 (75-66-78) over the three rounds.

Juliana Murcia moved up to 39th after the third round. The junior from Bogotá, Colombia shot a 1-over 74 on day three to put her at 10-over 228 (78-76-74). Incoming freshman Giulia Molinaro has recorded a 15-over 233 (76-79-78) over the three days.
