Oct. 13, 2008
LA QUINTA, Calif. -- The UW Men's golf team will take their newly minted No. 4 Golfweek ranking into California today, as The Prestige at PGA West at the Greg Norman Golf Course tees off at 7:30 a.m.
Leading the Huskies today is Chris Killmer, who was the winner of the Husky Invitational and recently named Pacific-10 Player of the Month for September. Killmer is currently ranked No. 4 in the individual Golfweek rankings. Rounding out the rest of the Huskies lineup are junior Richard Lee, freshman Jens Bracht, senior John Wise and sophomore Kevin Spooner.
Although not at full strength, the Huskies enter today's tournament as the favorite, as their No. 4 ranking is the highest of the 16 participating teams. The field also includes No. 12 Stanford, No. 17 Michigan State, No. 21 California, No. 25 Pepperdine, No. 28 Michigan and No. 30 Colorado. The rest of the field includes UC Davis, Kentucky, Central Florida, Northwestern, TCU, Pacific, Notre Dame, Rice and Florida Southern. Missing from the Huskies' roster this week are juniors Nick Taylor (Canada) and Tze Huang Choo (Singapore), due to their invitations to play in the 2008 World Amateur Team competition in Australia.
