WSU Tennis Set for ITA NW Regional

PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State University tennis team will travel to Stanford University Oct. 17-20, to participate in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northwest Regional.
Participating in the ITA NW Regional -- The teams competing in this year's regional range from Northern California, Washington, Oregon and parts of Idaho
Jack Taylor Classic - The Cougars traveled to Boise State to participate in the Jack Taylor Classic October 3-5... Ekaterina Kamendova highlighted day one with a 6-1, 0-6, 6-1 victory over Ola Abou-Zekry, who was ranked No. 103 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason rankings...freshman Elisabeth Fournier picked up three victories over the weekend while Aleksandra Cekic won two of her three matches.
Returnees - Kamendova is second on the team with a 6-1 record...she has a winning percentage of .857...both Aleksandra Cekic and Marina Nicolas have started the season with a 5-2 record...sophomore Jessica Gomez has claimed four victories and leads the team with five doubles wins while paired with multiple teammates.
Newcomers - Freshman Elisabeth Fournier leads the team with a 7-0 record which includes a singles championship at the annual Cougar Classic and has also won three doubles matches...Ioana Oprea has earned three victories as a Cougar so far this fall.
Spring Season - The ITA Northwest Regional will be the last time the Cougars will play during the fall season...WSU will play Air Force and Idaho in a double header January 17, 2009, to start the spring season.
Coach Hart - Washington State's Lisa Hart is in her sixth season as head coach...her overall record as a Cougar is 58-61... last season Hart led the team to 16-9 record and guided the team to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2002.
