Cal Men Take Eighth at Bronco Invitational

SUNNYVALE - The California men's cross country team came in eighth place in the Bronco Invitational hosted by Santa Clara Saturday morning in Sunnyvale, Calif. The Cal men finished with 203 points. Long Beach State won both the men's and the women's races.
Freshman Nate Beach led the Golden Bears with his 16th-place finish, touring the course in 25:12. Fellow freshman Maxime Chevee also posted a top-25 placing, coming in 23rd at 25:26. Fresno State's Erick Garcia won the race, clocking a time of 24:37.
Four Cal women participated in the women's race, with freshman Michelle Davis leading the way. Davis recorded a time of 18:24 and came in 40th place. Freshman Taylor Dutch didn't finish too far behind Davis at 43rd overall with a time of 18:29. Sarah Apgar of Long Beach State took top honor with a time of 17:14.
Cal has next week off as it prepares for the Pac-10 Championships on Oct. 31 in Springfield Ore.
