Oct. 20, 2008
Junior goalkeeper Brian Perk (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA/Edison Academic Center) of the UCLA men's soccer team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 13-19.
Perk allowed zero goals and had nine saves in 174 minutes of action over the weekend, earning a shutout against 23rd-ranked and Pac-10 leader Washington in a 2-0 win Friday and shutting out Oregon State for 84 minutes in a 3-0 win on Sunday before being subbed out late in the contest. Perk's shutouts helped the Bruins, who are unbeaten in eight of their last nine games, move into a tie for first place with the Huskies in the Pac-10 with 10 points and a 3-1-1 record. Perk lowered his goals against average to 1.34, and he has 47 saves and three solo shutouts on the year.
This is Perk's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and second of his career.
